Preserving of your Photographs and Memories

2 Mins read

Has it occurred to you when you’re just looking back at your old photographs, reminiscing on your old memories? Well, I did. I was even wondering how I can preserve these photographs and wanting to keep it for eternity. Some photographs may be too broken to preserve but others that are still in good conditions can be re-printed and kept in a nice cool place or even hanging it up on the wall.

This article will tell you ways to preserve your photographs and ensure that it will last a life time without causing any damage over time.

#1 Scanning Your Old Photographs

Digitalize your photographs

Scanning your photographs to your computer and memory disc may be a great option for some. This method will preserve your photographs and even keep it with you at all time in your mobile phones. This can easily be done by using a scanner. Scan the old photograph into your computer and from there you can easily transfer it anywhere you like.

Repair and duplicating your old photographs

Another option after scanning your photograph is to repair it digitally, re-color it and print it to duplicate. This way you can fix photographs that have discoloration issue and to make it look brand new. However, if you do not have any idea how to do it, you can always engage professionals to do it for you.

#2 Framing up your Photographs

If the photograph is still in perfect or good conditions, you can preserve it simply by framing it. By framing your photographs, you can keep it free from dust, hang it up on your favorite wall and have it in your sight to remind you of the great memories.

Framing your photographs can be easy but it is important to engage professionals to do it for you. Most of the time, you will find yourself engaging professionals for custom picture frames to make it more beautiful and to ensure that the frame fits the photograph perfectly.

#3 Keep it Away from the Enemies of Photographs

There are many villains that may damage and hurt your photograph. Some of which are exposing your photograph to direct sunlight, insects and rodents. Store your photographs in a dry and cool location like your basement, attics and garages. Remember to keep it away from wood and rubber as these materials will give off sulfur compounds which will cause fading and in high humidity it will encourage mold growth.

#4 Last Thoughts

Keeping and preserving your photographs may seem like a chore but it is important and essential especially when those photographs contain important and valuable memories. With that in mind, preserving your photographs may only just be a necessity which you will never think of it as a chore.
