Australia has some of the best fishing spots on the planet, with anglers coming from far and wide to experience the joys of this country’s fantastic waters. Of particular interest to enthusiasts is the abundance of deep-sea fishing opportunities available.

Australia Is A Fisherman’s Paradise

Chartered boat trips can be arranged for every possible type of fishing. Whether you’re an amateur or seasoned pro, there are countless dramatic and exciting fishing experiences to be enjoyed. From black marlin in Queensland to swordfish in western Australia. Fly fishing in Tasmania to game fishing in the Myall Lakes in New South Wales. There are so many possibilities that the only real problem is deciding where to start.

Fishing In The Northern Territory

Amongst the most spectacular options are fishing trips in Darwin in the Northern Territory.   The area is well known for its barra, sports, and reef fishing and has gained a reputation within the fishing community as a must-go-to spot.

Kakadu National Park and the South and East Alligator River are fantastic areas, and from October to December the area is brimming with barramundi during the famous Barra Build-Up when the fish school in many of the billabongs and estuaries scattered along the coast.

Most companies can legally provide trips up to 15 nautical miles off shore or beyond depending on the capabilities of the boat. This offers huge scope for a wide selection of sports fishing and gives international and local enthusiasts a chance to explore one of the most spectacular parts of the Australian coastline.

Not all About the Fish

Fishing trips can be as short as a half day excursion or a two week all inclusive vacation. This leave as lot of room for socializing with fellow enthusiasts and sampling the other delights of the region.

After a satisfying day on the water there are many options for dining and entertainment in the Darwin area.  A package tour provider will be able to offer a selection of great accommodation options but for those who like to make their own arrangements there are numerous good quality hotels and guest houses scattered around Darwin’s main fishing hotspots.

Also, for that occasional day when you might not be on the water, there are lots of word famous attractions in the area, including that mystical sandstone monolith Uluru – also known as Ayers Rock.

Or why not spend a day in Darwin City with its fantastic selection of shopping precincts, art galleries, and museums. There are so many possible excursions available in this part of the country that there truly is something for everyone.

Where it’s visiting one of the many national parks or getting up close to a saltwater crocodile, the Northern Territory really does offer great diversity.
